But there is no such thing as a giant class action against a Church for all different kinds of emotional harm.

Are there not class actions against the RC church because of molestations etc., on the grounds of emotional harm done the victims? I believe there are sucvh cases still going in Eastern Canada.

You cannot sue churches for matters relating to core religous doctrines that you don't like.

Chaserious- the harm is not caused by doctrine -which is just words - (although just words can be a danger to society) no, the harm is caused by the intent the WT puts those words to - coerced , systematic, publicly displayed, reality that people are abandoned and shunned by loved ones. I personally don't give a damn about doctrine , but I am harmed, and enraged by the separation artificialy inserted, and enforced into my family unit.

If anyone has individually been harmed by the WTS to the extent that the law recognizes a remedy, or a plausible argument can be made that the law should recognize a remedy, then by all means they should bring a lawsuit

It is my understanding, if I read the thousands of posts here correctly, that indeed, thousands of people have already suffered harm from the WT's intentional interference in their familial love. The exasperation, heartbreak and anger where whathave brought them here for support, comfort and help in coping - with what is undeniably a harm both unatural and inhumane-and completely unnecessary.

refusing to allow black couples to have a wedding ceremony in the church, guess what? They could do it right now, in 2013, and they could not be sued.

Please , somebody tell me this isn't so!

2 sisters came to the door and since i dont live in the territory they dont know me and i got to say "i'm not interested" for the first time :).

it felt awesome.

didnt have a chance to engage in conversation as i was quite busy but it was a nice first for me..

Joyfulfader - Quite a feeling isn't it, to be on the other side of the door? I like your choice of topix for their next call 'loving shunning' - sounds like a country song. I always talk to them - they don't know I am DF'd so it goes along pleasantly as can be - I disagree in the nicest way possible, and state my views politely and honestly, everbody parts happy.

Chaserious - Why do you think we who are DFd are powerless? We, ALL of the DFd, and all those who have EVER been DAd - are the very people, the living witnesses who can prove that, the WTS does indeed incite ALL their members, including our own close family members to discriminate, without known cause, against us. WE the DF'd and DA'd are also the living witnesses and proof of the mental and psycological damage that is unavoidable under the WTs extreme, coercive, systematic, alienation . I would imagine thousands, would happily volunteer to testify to these as legal claims if given a chance. Hopefully, Band On The Run, or some other legal eagles will join in here.

Hermano - The WT is far from invincible! The Baby-boomer generation, like me, are all going to be 'shuffling off' in the next 20 years so that's a(huge) demographic, they will lose without fail. Never again will converts flood in like we did- so easily lured from christendom. Boomers disappearing numbers (in Canada especially) can only be augmented by immigration. Our multi-culturalist policies for these 'new Canadians' will work against the WT bigtime. With REAl legal freedom to continue practicong their own faiths, there won't be the urgency there once was to join a foriegn church as an aid to assimilate. If we can mount an embarassing legal challenge to their one and ONLY power - to divide families - the exodus will begin unabated, with no further intervention required.

Lost Generation We are not dealing with the entire world - only where JWs are most annoying -USA, Canada, Uk and Euope. That alone changes the dynamics drasticaly - everybody here knows witnesses, likely view them as a cult, but don't know WHY. Certainly no one knew Rosa Parks, and hopefullymaybe even a majority didn't even care where she sat on the bus back then -but when the REAL ISSUE got to court- American history changed! Dignity and freedoms were for every citizen not just those who accidentally had pale pastey white skin. As was noted by Chaserious above we (as individualls) are free to shun whom we wish, and no doubt Ms.Parks was still the brunt of much discriminatory thoughlessness- BUT - it became illegal for anyone (or group) to incite, foment or sanction such. It seems to me that the WTS does exactly this - how else would it be possible that ordinary citizens are 99% acceptable to 99% 0f the general population, yet be 100% discriminated against by the remaining 1%- ALL of them JWs, the majority who have never known those they shun? This is the issue not the role numbers of the WT. The purpose should be to challenge and hopefully diminish the WTs power to intimidate members into submission or to punish people to their deaths. I think that the anullment of baptisms, and the proving of their coersion of members(regarding DF/DA) are the key issues

Is DISMISSING others a really really BAD habit?

if the facts are on our side we simply present those facts and allow the evidence to speak for itself.. however, if we are short on facts--what then?.

more and more i detect a trend among those who publicly disagree: they simply dismiss others without resorting to facts.. one's opponent in an opinion war is labeled as "unworthy" of being listened to.

Hello Terry - I always enjoy your (thinking out loud) threads. I can't imagine deleting any of those 52 as virtuous attributes. While some may appear to be somewhat unnecessary, or contradictory, I think that to cope with all the diverse situations and dilemas of life 'virtuously¡, we would need them all and quite often at that. Aggression isn't thought of as particularly virtuous, but in rare circumstances, it is the only viable response. Virtues seem the antidote for traits universally repugnant in ourselves or others, arrogance, cowardice,self righteousness, narcissism, ridgidity, treachery ....

QR codes: a way to stop APOSTATES !!!

interesting meeting today.the do had the last talk and he mentioned a couple of things i have not heard before :.

1) the new lighter magazines are designed in a way to attract people to our website .

2)the ministry will change to incoprorate preacing in town centres and and with stands as in manhattan and certain brothers will be allocated to do this .so it is done now in a big scale ,organised.. 3)the qr codes at the back of the magazines are there for smart phone users to guide them directly to jw.org ,unlike bad old internet via laptops and pc's that you have to look for the website on google and sometimes end up in enemy websites that look like our website but are spreading lies about jw's (he said exactly that!

Just a tech question - what are the little coloured geometric things between a posters name and the thread title on JWN?

People in a laundromat, etc. have idle time to kill - the codes on stickers seem like an efficient way to redirect their interest.
